What the deal confirms
Disney+ says it has reached a global distribution agreement with The Pokémon Company International. The centerpiece is Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, a stop-motion series from Aardman Animations that will debut on Disney XD and stream exclusively on Disney+ worldwide in 2027. Disney also says Pokémon the Series: The Beginning is already airing on Disney XD and streaming on Disney+ in the United States and selected international markets.
Why Aardman changes the proposition
Aardman is best known for the tactile character animation of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, so its involvement is more than a routine platform pickup. Sirfetch'd and Pichu will be interpreted through physical models, sets and frame-by-frame movement rather than the visual language of the long-running Pokémon television anime. The project therefore gives fans a distinct creative collaboration while Disney gains a recognizable original title for a global Pokémon relationship.
What remains unknown
The announcement establishes the year and worldwide Disney+ exclusivity, but it does not name a precise premiere date, episode count, running time or full creative team. It also does not state when Pokémon the Series: The Beginning will reach every territory outside the markets where Disney says it is already available. Those details matter because a global agreement can still roll out on different schedules, and because the scale of Aardman's production cannot yet be judged from a teaser alone.
