The four-stop MagicCon route
Wizards of the Coast's 2027 convention calendar begins with MagicCon: Detroit from February 26 to 28, then moves to MagicCon: Tokyo from May 14 to 16. MagicCon: Las Vegas follows from August 27 to 29, and MagicCon: Amsterdam closes the announced circuit from December 3 to 5. The Tokyo stop is the series' first event in Japan, turning the previously announced expansion into a dated trip rather than a general intention.
The calendar resolves the main travel question left by Wizards' earlier 2027 roadmap: fans now know which cities anchor all four convention weekends. It does not yet name venues, badge prices, sale dates or event-specific programming. How premier play fits the calendar
The first three MagicCons each carry a Pro Tour. Detroit hosts the first, Tokyo the second and Las Vegas the third. Amsterdam has the season's largest assigned role: Magic World Championship 33. That sequence lets competitive players connect each convention destination to a specific stage of premier play without assuming that every stop has the same tournament function.
One major competition sits outside the four MagicCon weekends. The Magic Limited Championship is scheduled for June 18 to 20 in Minneapolis, between Tokyo and Las Vegas. Wizards describes it as a championship focused on Limited play, but the calendar announcement is not a substitute for qualification rules, registration instructions or the later event fact sheet.
What attendees can plan now
Fans can reserve the five date windows, compare travel seasons and begin a provisional budget. Detroit opens the year in late February, Tokyo follows in spring, Las Vegas lands in late August and Amsterdam finishes in December. Competitors also have a separate June trip to weigh if the Limited Championship is relevant to their path.
The prudent next step is to wait for each event's owner page before committing to access-dependent plans. Venue capacity, badge tiers, on-sale times, tournament entry and side-event schedules remain unannounced.
