Netflix's Grand Theft Auto VI extended look coincides with a 24% U.S. app-download jump
Sensor Tower estimates reported August 31 show U.S. Netflix app downloads rose 24% on the day the service premiered an extended Grand Theft Auto VI look, 20% above the prior 30-day daily average. iOS downloads rose 54% day over day and Netflix moved from 96th to 35th among free U.S. iOS apps, while Android downloads fell 13%. The report also associates the premiere day with a 436% day-over-day increase in GTA VI preorders. Netflix and Rockstar did not publish underlying totals, and the timing does not prove the footage caused every change.
