Alex Ross reveals Marvel Dimensions shifts from painted origins to an inserted 32-page ink comic
In an August 26 Publishers Weekly interview, Ross and Abrams editorial director Charles Kochman explained that the first half retells origins in painted two-page spreads, from the original Human Torch through Jean Grey as Phoenix. The book then changes into a pen-and-ink narrative held in a separate 32-page comic physically bound into the hardcover, with the reason for that change intentionally unrevealed before publication in September.
