ARIA bars wholly AI-generated recordings from Australian charts but keeps human-led AI assistance eligible
ARIA's new code applies from the chart dated August 31 and requires recordings using generative AI to be substantially human-made, free of chart manipulation and compliant with applicable law. AI-generated lead vocals or primary instruments make a track ineligible, while human performances using AI backing vocals, mastering, stem separation, drum machines or played instrument patches may qualify. Rights holders must declare AI use and can contest exclusions; ineligible recordings also lose ARIA Award eligibility. The rule does not ban distribution, radio play or royalties.
