Canada signs modernized audiovisual coproduction treaties with the United Kingdom and Spain
Canada signed the two modernized treaties at TIFF: The Market on September 13. Canadian Heritage says the United Kingdom relationship produced 98 film and television projects worth about C$629 million over the last decade, while the Spain relationship covers 16 projects worth nearly C$123 million since the 1985 treaty. The new texts are signed but not yet in force: both countries must ratify them, and Canada will publish them only after that process. No new project, start date or future funding amount is guaranteed.
