Dash Shaw says Covid losses shaped Like Swimmers into his version of a 1990s Vertigo mystery
Shaw told Publishers Weekly that losing friends during the pandemic inspired the mystery and his ambition to make a 1990s Vertigo-style comic. He connects it to Spawn and Image comics shared with a late friend and cites John Romita, Roy Lichtenstein, the Misfits and Rumi.
