Jermaine Dupri's So So Def dismisses its $18 million Sony Music royalty lawsuit after an undisclosed resolution
Dupri and the So So Def companies voluntarily dismissed their royalty lawsuit against Sony Music in federal court on August 28 after saying the parties had resolved the matter. The notice provides no payment, timetable or accounting remedy and dismisses the action without prejudice, which permits the claims to be filed again. The July complaint had sought at least $18 million plus more than $10 million in interest over alleged royalty underreporting and nonpayment; Sony did not admit wrongdoing and had not answered the allegations.
