SOCAN completes its acquisition of Canadian reproduction-rights agency CMRRA
SOCAN completed the acquisition from SoundExchange on September 1 after satisfying customary closing conditions for the transaction announced July 29. CMRRA is to continue with its current reproduction-rights services and existing expert team. SOCAN says the combination should streamline Canadian rights management for publishers, songwriters and composers, but it disclosed no price, integration costs, governance changes or measured effect on royalty timing.
