Telluride programs two AI warnings while screening the AI-assisted documentary Love, Rendered
Telluride held The Humanity Dilemma presentation and an AI AI AI panel on September 5. Festival executive director Julie Huntsinger called AI a threat; Center for Humane Technology co-founder Tristan Harris called for a pause in frontier development, while Bill Gates said he could support a credible plan to slow or stabilize it. The program also included Liz Garbus’ short documentary Love, Rendered, whose filmmakers said they used AI with family photographs and stories to recreate an elderly couple’s first meeting.
