Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey becomes Universal's highest-grossing film worldwide

The Associated Press estimated September 13 that The Odyssey reached US$600.5 million in the United States and Canada and US$1.68 billion worldwide, moving past Jurassic World as Universal's largest global release by unadjusted nominal gross. AP attributes US$506 million of the worldwide total to IMAX screens. Sunday estimates may change, and the ranking does not establish inflation-adjusted performance or profitability.

Paul Walker's brother Cody declines to serve as a Fast Forever stand-in

Cody Walker told Entertainment Weekly on September 9 that he would not be interested in acting as a stand-in again if Fast Forever brings Brian back. He said the choice should reflect Paul Walker's daughter Meadow's wishes and noted that unused footage and digital techniques could make a return technically possible. The Odyssey reaches an estimated US$1.63 billion worldwide and approaches Universal's studio record

TheWrap estimated September 6 that The Odyssey would add US$17 million over the four-day Labor Day weekend, reaching US$588 million domestic and US$1.63 billion worldwide. The publication projects that the film will pass Jurassic World's unadjusted US$1.67 billion worldwide total during the coming week to become Universal's highest-grossing film; that record had not yet been crossed at publication.
