Penske Media takes full ownership of SXSW while keeping the festivals headquartered in Austin
Penske Media and SXSW announced August 28 that Penske has taken full ownership after buying 50% in 2021 and majority control in 2023. SXSW says its flagship conference and festivals and SXSW EDU will remain headquartered in Austin. The parties did not disclose the price, closing date or which remaining stakeholders transferred interests. SXSW returns March 15–21, 2027, with a new podcast festival, while SXSW EDU runs March 13–16 in Austin.
