Tom Cruise used Daytona International Speedway, one of NASCAR's most recognizable venues, to announce that he will again play Cole Trickle in a follow-up to Days of Thunder. Associated Press reports that Anne Hathaway is attached as a team owner and engineer, while Paramount has scheduled the film for June 2, 2028. Jonathan Levine is set to direct from a screenplay by Will Staples. Cruise will produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper, reconnecting the sequel to the original film through both its star and Bruckheimer.
