A real launch window replaces a broad year

Bandai Namco's official Gundam site announced on September 14 that Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO will launch in Japan and North America in April 2027. The same notice calls it a television animation, settling a format that had remained unspecified when the project was introduced for 2027. MANTANWEB independently describes an April Japanese television start and reports that new footage accompanied the update. The owner has not yet supplied a calendar day, broadcaster, streaming platform, episode count or schedule for territories beyond Japan and North America, so the announcement establishes the first useful access window without completing the distribution map.

One Gundam world, two points in its history

XARX-ZERO belongs to the RG Project, a mixed-media continuity built to connect the television anime with the action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. The anime serves as the earlier point in that history; Kamiyama says the game team first proposed a conflict with a vast space-born enemy, the anime team developed the enemy and the structure of the war, and the game then expanded the same setting roughly a century later. ROGUE ORBIT is separately due March 5, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, placing its release immediately before the anime's April launch.

What the new interview clarifies

Kenji Kamiyama, director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, directs XARX-ZERO and handles its series composition, with SOLA ANIMATION producing. His newly published interview describes a battle between humanity and an autonomous interstellar object later called Apocalypse, alongside the conflicts and growth of young characters. He also confirms that the story occupies an independent Gundam timeline rather than an established continuity. Takeo Otsuka voices Ray Azumi, a war orphan who pilots Gundam ZERO. Those creative details make the anime-game relationship easier to understand, but they do not reveal how North American viewers will watch; a named service or broadcaster is now the most consequential missing piece.
