The Ribbon Hero turns a Tezuka landmark into a new anime adventure
Now streaming on Netflix, The Ribbon Hero is a feature inspired by Osamu Tezuka's Princess Knight and the directorial debut of Yuki Igarashi, whose credits include Jujutsu Kaisen and Star Wars: Visions. It is not a straight adaptation: Netflix describes a new lone hero defying a harsh destiny, built around Igarashi's flair for intricate, kinetic animation.
Why it mattersPrincess Knight helped establish the visual and thematic grammar of shōjo manga. Using it as a launchpad rather than a museum piece is exactly the sort of ambitious remix worth discovering.

Quake's 30th birthday comes with 19 genuinely new levels
MachineGames has added Dawn of the Machine, a free 19-level chapter with weapon variants including a lightning-charged Super Axe and a ricocheting Laser Cannon, to the enhanced edition of the original Quake. The update also opens an archive of early development material, including playable unfinished maps.
Why it mattersThis is more than an anniversary texture pack: it puts new professional level design beside the rough working documents of a game that changed 3D action, letting players see both the legacy and the process.
