Kumoricon names adaptive-cosplay creator Colleen Cosplay a Portland guest of honor

For its November 13–15 convention at Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, United States, Kumoricon announced Colleen Cosplay as a Cosplay Guest of Honor on September 16. The organizer describes the disabled Pacific Northwest YouTuber as a creator with more than ten years of experience in adaptive costume design, mobility-aid decoration and adaptive dance, as well as cosplay craftsmanship and performance awards. Appearance days, panels, judging work and signing details have not yet been published.

Kumoricon opens its revamped 2026 cosplay contest applications through September 27

Kumoricon opened cosplay contest submissions September 13 and will close them September 27 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific, with no on-site entries. Individual and group entries of up to nine people may choose craftsmanship, performance or dual judging; applications require reference and work-in-progress photos showing at least 50% completion. The 2026 rules redistribute 48 non-youth places among skill divisions, change performance limits and awards, and replace the Friday pre-meeting with optional office hours.

Kumoricon opens Idol Festival auditions through October 25 for its Portland anime convention

Auditions opened August 30 and close October 25 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Applicants must submit a costume image and a single-take 90-second full-body dance video; selected acts prepare a three-to-five-minute singing, dancing or combined performance. Participants must attend Kumoricon, and final festival, rehearsal and check-in times await the convention schedule.

Kumoricon brings Cosplay Chess back for two rounds in Portland this November

Kumoricon runs November 13–15 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, United States. The convention announced on August 25 that its live-action Cosplay Chess event will return with two rounds, in which costumed participants act as pieces and perform battles when captured. Signups are promised soon, but the opening date, rules, round times and roster have not been published.
