Shailene Woodley says she learned a year after filming that her Mary Jane scenes were cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2
In an August 24 SAG-AFTRA Foundation retrospective, Woodley said Spider-Man was her favorite superhero and Mary Jane a dream role. She recalled filming about three scenes and learning roughly a year later that she would not be in the movie. Woodley says she was told the film introduced too many characters and that Mary Jane would appear after Gwen Stacy's death, but the planned follow-up never happened; she also says she does not know the definitive internal reason.
