What stopped on September 6
Kura Sushi ended the Chiikawa collaboration from the start of business on September 6. According to the company's notice as detailed by Gourmet Watch, the cancellation applies to Bikkura Pon figures, acrylic magnets and badges; the promotional teacup and plate giveaways; a receipt-entry draw for short aprons; both collaboration menu items; and the campaign videos and decorations at three flagship stores. This is therefore not a stock shortage or the early end of one giveaway tier. Every customer-facing component has stopped, including the third plate phase that had been scheduled to begin September 18.
The reason Kura Sushi gave
The chain said it investigated after a September 2 social-media post questioned how collaboration goods were being handled and found misconduct by an employee. Kura Sushi then chose to cancel the campaign in full and apologized to customers and related parties. The available notice does not name the person, describe the act in detail, quantify any missing goods or establish misconduct beyond the company's own internal finding. Those limits matter: the verified development is the operator's decision and stated basis, not wider speculation about resale markets, other employees or future Chiikawa licensing relationships.
Why the advertising warning matters
Kura Sushi warned that television commercials could continue saying the Chiikawa campaign was underway even though the offer had ended. That creates a practical gap between the advertising still in circulation and what customers can receive at restaurants. Fans should not travel to a location, make a qualifying purchase or wait for the later plate giveaway on the assumption that a commercial reflects current availability. The next meaningful updates would be a reimbursement or remedy for affected customers, a more specific account of the misconduct, or a decision to restart any part of the promotion under revised controls.
