Aniplex released a third post-opening trailer and key visual on September 12. The spoiler-heavy footage introduces an upperclassman identified as Was and confirms Maaya Sakamoto as her voice actor; Ume Aoki drew the new visual. The materials expand the film's publicly identified cast after its Japanese release, but do not announce a new territory, home-video plan or other access change.
In interviews published September 12–13, Urobuchi said Gekidan Inu Curry gave him a large set of notebooks containing sketches, settings and story situations after Rebellion. He described his own job as linking and arranging that material into a film script, and said the design duo had provided most of the new movie's underlying conception. He also credited Shaft with adding a convent-era flashback during production. These are Urobuchi's recollections of his contribution, not a complete account from every collaborator.
Anime! Anime! reported on September 7 that Walpurgisnacht Rising earned ¥1,537,959,580 from 904,721 admissions between August 28 and September 6, its first ten theatrical days. MANTANWEB reported on August 31 that Walpurgisnacht Rising ranked first at the Japanese box office for August 28–30, citing Kogyo Tsushinsha. A later same-day report put the film above ¥930 million in revenue and at 530,000 admissions over those first three days; screen count, costs, profitability and international performance were not provided.
Walpurgisnacht Rising began screening in Japan at midnight on August 28, completing the release plan FanBriefer had tracked after delays from winter 2024, winter 2025 and February 2026. The production asked viewers to avoid posting spoilers on social and video platforms until September 12; international theatrical dates, opening performance and later home access remain unannounced.
In a MANTANWEB interview published August 26, Saito said she set aside the exaggerated versions of Homura that developed across later games and collaborations and returned to the character's state at the end of Rebellion. She also approached the recording as though it might be her last performance as Homura and deliberately left emotional room for the visuals and music.
In an August 25 MANTANWEB interview, Yuki said Madoka's deliberate ordinariness becomes a weakness in Homura's reconstructed world. She called the new characters essential to the script, singled out Nagisa's unexpected emotional strength and said the principal cast recorded together for the first time in roughly 12 or 13 years.
